The driving energy behind Martha's storytelling is a conviction that stories profoundly enrich our lives. As a psychotherapist, she particularly values stories for teaching, developing language skills and imagination, transmitting values and promoting character development. As we laugh at ourselves through story, we free ourselves up for enjoying life and doing more creative problem solving. Stories help us learn and appreciate each other, from the daily reports of our lives to our loved ones to the stories that have become integral parts of religions and philosophies.
Martha's family was not surprised about her professional storytelling. When she told a cousin that she was doing a radio show in Cincinnati, he laughed and replied “It must be a talk show.” Martha produced and hosted a weekly one-hour summer show “Stories for All” on WAIF-FM for three summers. Her experiences as a wife, mother and now grandmother have enhanced her storytelling. Martha has also been a practicing
clinical social worker in the mental health field for over 25 years.
